FOR PARENTS: Welcome to my seventh grade science page! I am excited to be teaching your student this year. We have been getting to know one another, discussing procedures and norms for our classroom. I am excited to be using the new OpenSciEd curriculum that is very hands on and engaging for the students. To keep up with what we are doing in science, please check this teacher page regularly.
FOR STUDENTS: I am excited about getting to know you better as we figure things out together in our “light bulb lab!” Please check this page often to make sure you are keeping up with what is happening in science class. If you are absent, please check this page to know what you need to make up and/or add to your notebook.
FOR PARENTS: WEEK OF SEP 9-13
We had a great week in science class! We started off the week testing our cups to see if they worked as well at keeping hot water hot as they did at keeping cold water cold. We planned an investigation to test the lid to see how it affects the liquid that is in the cup. We used science words like independent variable, dependent variable, and controlled variables while planning. We tested the temperature change and the mass change of hot water in a cup with a lid and without. Check out the progress tracker pages in the photo album section to see what we are learning!
Expect a quiz this coming week on science words and being able to identify the independent, dependent and controlled variables in an experiment.
FOR STUDENTS: WEEK OF SEP 9-13
We completed pages 45-51 this week in our notebooks. Check the photo album page to make sure you are caught up. You will need to get lab data from your table group if you missed an investigation. We also completed pages 15 and 16 in our progress tracker in our notebooks. Make sure you are staying up to date!
Expect a quiz on science words and being able to identify independent, dependent, and controlled variables in an experiment this coming week!
Looking forward to another great week!
